Job Description Job Description Position Title: General Accountant Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 2–3 days in office, Tuesday/Wednesday preferred) Assignment Type: Contract (3-month assignment with potential to extend) Compensation: $35–45/hour Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Benefits: This position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k). Job Description Addison Group is seeking a General Accountant for a leading financial institution headquartered in the Reston, VA area. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong technical skills, a high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment. You will support a collaborative Accounting Manager and help maintain accurate financial reporting during a period of organizational transformation. Key Responsibilities: Assist with accounts payable processing, coding, and verification. Record and track monthly accruals, journal entries, and adjustments. Prepare reconciliations, trial balances, and variance analyses. Support monthly and year-end close processes in compliance with GAAP. Assist in preparing financial reporting schedules and documentation for audits. Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operations teams to ensure data integrity. Maintain organized records and assist in internal control and compliance initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 3–5 years of experience in general accounting, including month-end close and reconciliations. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and standard accounting practices. Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) required. Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite preferred. Proven reliability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team in a hybrid environment.
