Job Description:
We are seeking a Data Center Building Engineer to provide
ongoing maintenance and operational support across our customers'
hyperscale facility in Ashburn, VA. This role is responsible for
the reliable operation and upkeep of all mechanical and electrical
systems within the complex. The engineer will support vendor and
contractor activities related to specialized repairs and
maintenance projects. Shift: 12-hour shift, operating on a
4-days-on / 4-days-off schedule * * days & nights are rotated every
month (one-month days, one-month nights) Pay: $30-38/hr Reports
directly to the Facilities Manager Key Responsibilities Take
direction from the Lead Building Engineer and support overall
facility operations. Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure
systems to ensure maximum uptime and optimal performance. Conduct
regular inspections of the facility, ensuring mechanical and
electrical systems remain within established tolerances. Operate
and maintain systems including HVAC units, chiller plants, cooling
towers, fire suppression, and water systems with an emphasis on
efficiency and cost control. Become proficient in the use of
building automation systems and controls. Perform routine
maintenance and minor repairs on infrastructure systems and
equipment. Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and
system performance. Safely utilize ladders, lifts, and other access
equipment; must be capable of lifting and carrying loads up to 50
lbs. Assist with light-duty construction and repair tasks across
plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Oversee on-site vendor and
contractor work. Support basic site security functions as needed.
Qualifications 2–5 years of mechanical and electrical experience in
mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or
manufacturing facilities. A technical or college degree is
preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
Preferred Experience and Certifications Familiarity with electric
and pneumatic controls. Experience supporting and following safety
protocols in facility operations. Participation in ongoing safety
and skills training programs. Military background is a plus. CFC
(refrigeration) certification is advantageous. Skills and
Competencies Ability to interpret blueprints, control schematics,
ladder diagrams, and flowcharts. Proficient in using diagnostic
tools including volt-ohm meters, leak detection systems,
refrigerant reclaim units, and equipment alignment tools. Solid
understanding of critical power systems including redundant UPS
configurations, diesel backup generators, and large-scale chilled
water systems. Strong troubleshooting capabilities with automated
