Environmental/Energy Manager - Joint Base Anacostia- Bolling
The primary responsibility of the Environmental/Energy Manager is
to ensure contractor operations adhere to the goals and policies of
the Environmental Management System, the Installation Energy Plan,
and other specified Sustainability requirements affecting this
contract. The Environmental/Energy Manager shall develop,
implement, and monitor environmental strategies, policies, and
programs that promote sustainable development, examine contract
activities for improvements, and ensure compliance with
environmental legislation and energy policies.
*This position is Part Time averaging 24-32 hours per week
Salary
$55,000 - $65,000 based on experience, qualifications, and
clearance
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure departments achieve and maintain environmental
compliance, prevent pollution, and participate in environmental
programs.
- Serve as the point of contact for environmental and energy
compliance matters.
- Promote reduction of volume and toxicity of hazardous materials
within the organization.
- Identify permit needs and manage certifications and permits as
required.
- Oversee hazardous material collection, handling, disposal, and
ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Follow up on container management deficiencies and ensure
timely removal of hazardous materials.
- Conduct regular inspections of environmental sites and
records.
- Develop and maintain environmental Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations,
including inspections and permits.
- Address discrepancies noted in inspections or
violations.
- Oversee environmental and energy awareness training and
communication.
Essential Skills
- Effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, and telephone
etiquette skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility in work situations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure timely
completion.
- Workplace safety practices, including proper use of
PPE.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an Environmental/Energy
Manager on a large Base Operations Services Support (BOSS)
contract.
- Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations at local,
state, and federal levels.
- Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems.
- OSHA 30-hour certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
- U.S. citizenship for access to military installations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Top Secret Clearance.
Physical Requirements
- Carrying objects over short distances.
- Extensive computer work.
- Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Use of hands, reaching, talking, walking.
- Prolonged sitting, bending, standing, twisting, or
stooping.
- Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
- Working outdoors in various temperatures and weather
conditions.
