Job Description:
Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) – Surgical Services
Location: Towson, MD Shift: Mid Shift | 5x8-Hour (3:00 PM – 11:30
PM) Start Date: Contract Length: 8 Weeks Key Responsibilities:
Decontaminate, assemble, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments
and trays. Perform biological and chemical indicator testing, IUSS,
and steam sterilization monitoring. Process specialty equipment
from departments such as ENT, Endoscopy, OB/GYN, Urology, and
Orthopedics. Reprocess flexible endoscopes including EGD, ERCP,
EBUS, EUS, TEE, and more. Utilize sterilization technologies such
as washers, HLD equipment, and proper wrapping procedures. Assemble
case carts and ensure timely distribution for surgical procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment processing and
sterilization logs. Support infection control and safety protocols
at all times. Collaborate with OR teams to meet clinical demands
effectively. Float within the facility as needed within scope of
specialty. Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing
experience preferred (strong candidates with Certification
required: CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA . BLS certification preferred.
Previous experience with Epic EMR preferred. Strong knowledge of
endoscope reprocessing and surgical instrumentation. Must be able
to work every third weekend and holidays as scheduled. Willingness
to float within specialty areas. Schedule Details: Mid shift:
Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM. No block scheduling available.
Orientation: 40 hours (non-billable). Weekend Requirement: Every
third weekend (minimum 3 shifts during contract).
