Job Description:

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our PreOp/PACU department. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional patient care before and after surgery. You will provide expert nursing care, ensuring that patients are prepared for surgery and receive vital post-operative care that adheres to MedStar's high standards. The position offers a dynamic work environment where team collaboration and professional growth are encouraged. Assess patient condition prior to surgery and prepare accordingly Administer and monitor patient medication and intravenous infusions Provide post-anesthesia care including vital signs, and manage pain relief Support patient recovery, education, and health maintenance post-surgery Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure comprehensive care Document and maintain accurate patient medical records Follow all hospital safety protocols and nursing standards Strong clinical skills in a hospital setting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Capability to handle stressful situations with professionalism Proficiency in electronic medical record systems Expertise in IV placement, pharmacology, and pain management Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid RN license in the state of practice BLS Certification required; ACLS Certification preferred Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) certification is advantageous
