- Job Summary
Evaluates, plans, and administers medically prescribed physical
therapy treatments to patients. Supervises Techs, volunteers, and
students. Participates in patient/family, hospital and community
- Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy
1 year of experience preferred
Maryland Speech Therapist Certification
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal
and external customers.
Basic Computer skills to perform Data entry

- Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Clinical: Performs initial evaluations and sets up treatment
programs for patients of all ages in accordance with physician
orders and standard therapeutic procedure on both an inpatient and
Identifies functional problems that require intervention based
on an accurate assessment of the patient's status.
Establishes interventions within practice/ licensing
Establishes specific outcomes that are consistent with
identified problems, address functional needs and are
Incorporates Patient and Caregiver goals into the plan of
Modifies and progresses treatment program as appropriate.
Coordinates patient care needs with other services including PT,
OT, nursing staff, discharge planning and physicians.
Observes and documents patient activities in the medical record

JCAHO, Medicare and other regulating insurance or licensing
Identifies need for and assists in procurement of equipment to
optimize patient function.
Notifies physician and nursing staff of any changes in patient's

family members and staff.
Instructs patients and caregivers in treatment programs,
precautions and equipment use as necessary.
Documents patient/ caregiver instruction provided
Participates in the orientation of new staff members and
volunteers as needed.
Serves as a clinical instructor for students
- Development: Maintains current knowledge, certification, and

Attends continuing education programs in order to maintain
