Supervisor / Meaningful Day Manager Position Summary The
Independent Living Coach supports adults with disabilities in
developing, strengthening, and maintaining the skills needed for
greater independence and community inclusion. Through hands-on
coaching, person-centered planning, and meaningful community
engagement, the Coach empowers participants to build life skills,
self-confidence, and personal goals within the Meaningful Day
Program at The League for People with Disabilities. This role plays
a vital part in helping individuals live more self-directed,
fulfilling lives while honoring dignity, choice, and individual
abilities. Key ResponsibilitiesParticipant Support & Skill
Development Provide direct, person-centered support to participants
in individual and small group settings. Coach participants in
independent living skills such as: Daily living routines (hygiene,
organization, time management) Money management and budgeting
basics Community navigation and transportation skills
Communication, self-advocacy, and social skills Support
participants in identifying personal goals and celebrating progress
and achievements. Meaningful Day Programming Assist with planning
and facilitating structured Meaningful Day activities focused on
independence, wellness, and life skills. Encourage participation in
community-based activities, volunteer opportunities, and
skill-building experiences. Promote participant choice and
self-direction in daily programming. Documentation & Compliance
Complete required documentation accurately and on time (daily
notes, progress updates, incident reports, etc.). Follow all League
policies, state regulations, and program guidelines. Observe,
document, and communicate changes in participant needs or behaviors
to the supervisor. Collaboration & Communication Work
collaboratively with supervisors, interdisciplinary team members,
families, and guardians as needed. Maintain professional,
respectful communication aligned with League values. Participate in
team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
Health, Safety & Wellness Support a safe, inclusive, and respectful
environment at all times. Follow health, safety, and emergency
procedures. Assist participants with basic health and wellness
routines as outlined in individual plans (non-medical).
QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED required
Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
Ability to model and teach independent living skills Strong
interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to
pass required background checks and clearances Valid driver's
license and ability to transport participants (if applicable)
Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services,
Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field Experience in
adult day programs, supported living, or community-based services
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
